I feel a sense of Deja vu when I say I must / will do a looking forward / looking back this month πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ and maybe that will help me see that there was some magic, cos it feels a bit absent / crowded out by the work stress and child- taxi-ing.

Thanks for another great post and have a fab November x

It was there! The magic was there! Somewhere!! And I hope it’s there for you in November, too - perhaps in the taxi?! 😘😘😘

1. I love that your kid has agency in choosing his meals (mine does too, but he quickly changes his mind *sigh*)

2. Just as good as ice cream in a mug is eating chocolate cake in a mug made in the microwave

3. Work stress sucks. But I see it as you care enough doing good work in the world that you'll keep truckin' on.

The clocks changing was a whole new experience with LO now at home..…so in an attempt to find something wonderful in the 5am wake ups this week I lit a candle at breakfast. It does feel a bit magic. X

Candles at breakfast! THAT is magical! You have inspired me to try the same… albeit not at 5am! 🩡

>It’s my most β€œme” concept ever, where I’m not trying to write for the market but instead just what I think is cool ...

You have me intrigued, and this sounds like such a good feeling! I'm currently listening to the audiobook of 'The Lucky Escape', which is a great place to be as the weather gets colder and greyer.

Friend, I totally understand the feeling of "universe doesn't seem to want me to do this" AND (from where I sit) you seem uniquely talented at creating lovable, realistic characters and stories. Like, I don't think the universe would give you that gift without a plan. ❀️

Re: being in the thick of it - I am extremely right there with you! TWO stepson's living with us fulltime in 1,500 sq feet, aging parents, etc etc. The one thing I did that has been truly life saving (and you've honestly probably already thought of) is joining a co-working space.

What's that? I have a reason to put on real clothes and makeup and leave the house every day? I have "work friends" I make a small talk with in the kitchenette? I'm not distracted by the dog or the laundry? IT'S GREAT. Also: it's a tax deductible business expense and literally cheaper than working in a coffee shop 5 days a week!!

I was reading and trying to formulate thoughts around finding the magic… but then I had to run to the comments to say you haven’t used Vinted?! I’m shook 😱 I feel like you’re the kind of person that will find the *best of the best* and I’ll wonder how you did it!

Sorry about your work disappointment.

Do you think we choose the painful fight because the alternative is boring (/not simulating enough)? Maybe it’s the fight that keeps you going? But then it makes sense that there should be magic there. Maybe you don’t have to dump his ass but still have a few flings & experiment? Hopefully someone knows some answers. Grateful to you for sharing.

PS ice cream in a mug is the only way to eat it 😍

β€œThe Painful Fight”… sounds like a book I would definitely pick up! You might be right - there’s deffo something in that. Kind of like Diane in The Good Fight - she lives for the struggle! Anyway, yes, off to cheat on my boyfriend for a bit. What a great idea! 😘😘😘

Finding it hard to find the magic… hard relate. Monotony of the mundane, work stress blah blah. Definitely want to be more intentional in finding the magic in the small things and romanticizing life ❀️ love all your words Laura! They speak to me every single time! Sorry you had a work disappointment. Be kind to yourself!
