Laura I just want to say how much of an inspiration you are. I’ve been following you since your Superlatively Rude days (2014 according to my inbox!). Your writing is like a warm hug and always inspires me to put my fingers to my own keyboard in a way that feels natural and authentic to me. I’ve been toying with starting a Substack and found myself comparing other people’s monthly recaps with the format I was planning (do I need to make mine more editorial with these collages?! Omg I wasn’t planning on including that category - SHOULD I?!). Then I came across this post and omg I felt my heart sigh in relief. So lovely to read and a breath of fresh air. And yeah, man, Substack! Just do whatever! Do what YOU want and the right people will connect. I hate when Substacks all start to look the same... and in my own six months here I've found you really can't predict which singular letters will "land". I just trust that as an overall body of work it all adds up to something (which I think it does, it's going very well!)
